Master Sarthak Debata, (Rourkela) of Odisha clinched the title of 7th Bhubaneswar All India Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2016 for below 1600 by scoring 7.5 points and Rs.25000/-, 1st Runner up is Priyanka Routray from Odisha by scoring 7.5 pts bagged Rs.20,000/- and 2nd Runner up Swastik Sourav Sahoo of Odisha collected Rs.15,000/-

The 7th Bhubaneswar All India Fide Rating Chess Tournament-2016 for below 1600 has been organized by Khordha District Chess Association from 16th to 18th September 2016 at Hotel Empires, Prize Distribution function started at 06:00 pm on 18th September 2016 (Sunday) in the same venue. Chief Guest for the Event, Mr.Ranjan Mohanty – Vice President of All Odisha Chess Association, Sri Subhasis Patnaik Secy., Khorda District Chess Association & Saroj Kishore Behera, Jt Secy Khorda District Chess Association, Three Arbiters for the event Anandh Babu VL-Chief Arbiter, Tapas Mohanty-Deputy Chief and Santosh Mohapatra conducted the tournament smoothly.

Totally 85 prizes and 21 Trophies were distributed, breakups for the event are Main Prizes 30, Rating Category prizes 08, Age group for Under 07, 09 and 11 Boys & Girls, Special Unrated top 15 prizes were given.

IM Shyamnikhil P of Tamilnadu clinched the Championship.

International Master P. Shyamnikhil of Tamil Nadu clinched 5th Keshabananda Das open 2016 by scoring 7.5 points & took home Rs.75,000/- (seventy five thousand only).

International Master Swayams Mishra of Odisha became half point behind the champion by scoring 7 points & pocketed a cash prize of Rs. Fifty Thousand. IM VAV Rajesh of AAI became 2nd runners up by scoring 7 points & took away Rs. Thirty Five Thousand only. In top board IM P.Shyamnikhil drew with IM VAV Rajesh. In second board IM R. Ramnath Bhubnesh drew with IM Swayams Mishra . Odia girl Smaraki Mohanty got 15th position & won cash prizes of Rs. Nine Thousand. Rakesh Ku. Nayak, Biswajit Nayak, WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty, Rabindra Kumar Ojha got 15th, 23rd, 24th, 25th & 27th position in top merit thirty. All the winners collected cash prizes from Chief Guest Sj. Sarat Chandra Misra, IPS(Retd.) , Former Director General of Police,Govt. of Odisha, Sri Subhasis Patnaik, Secy. Khordha District Chess Association & Sri Saroj Kishore Behera, Jt.Secy. Khordha District Chess Association. Three arbiters VL Anand Babu, Tapas Mohanty & Santosh Mohapatra conducted the championship smoothly without any dispute.
