Under the auspices of the All Odisha Chess Association (AOCA), a 4-day special qualitative chess training preparation camp has commenced on Tuesday afternoon for children selected for the Under-7 and Under-9 National Chess Championships. The camp is being held from June 23rd to 26th at the State Government’s “Proteshta” facility located in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar.
Organized in collaboration with the State Government’s Department of Sports and Youth Services, the training at this camp is being imparted by International Master Swayamsu Satyapragyan (who holds 4 Grandmaster norms) and CM Rajendra Sahu. Various specially prepared chess arts and techniques will be taught to the players every day from 2:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
The President of the State Chess Association, Satya Ranjan Patnaik, and Joint Secretary, Bhabesh Mohanty, were present at the camp to encourage the young players and offer them various words of advice.
Participants:
- Boys: State Under-9 Champion Pragyan Mishra, Pratyush Kumar (both from Khordha), Rityansh Agrawal (Sundargarh), Reyansh Mallick (Cuttack), Arpan Sahu, Adi Ayushman Mohapatra, Priyanshu Ray, and Redyansh Nayak (all from Khordha) are receiving training.
- Girls: Ariya Mohanty (Cuttack), Pratiksha Sambadi (Khordha), Saanvi Priyanshi (Dhenkanal), Sahil Smita (Khordha), and Sohini Nayak (Sundargarh) are receiving training.
It is worth mentioning here that the National Under-7 Children’s Chess Championship is scheduled to take place in Nagpur, Maharashtra, from June 30 to July 5, while the National Under-9 Children’s Chess Championship will be held in Ranchi from July 6 to July 12.
