38th National (Under 7) OPEN & GIRLS Chess Championships 2025

The 38th National (Under 7) Open & Girls Chess Championships 2025, hosted by the All Odisha Chess Association and supported by the All India Chess Federation and the Department of Sports Youth Services, Government of Odisha, began with great enthusiasm at KT Global School, Khordha. The inauguration ceremony, held at 10:00 A.M. on 01 June 2025, saw eager participation from 27 States of India, marking the start of an exciting event showcasing strategic thinking and sportsmanship among young chess players.

The following guests graced the inaugural function: Chief Guest Sri Goutam Panigrahi from Corporate Affairs, JSW Steel Ltd.; Guest of Honour Rtn. Manoj Kumar Tripathy, District Governor (2025-26), Rotary International Dist. 3262; Guest of Honour Sri Swayangsu Satyapragyan, International Master, Admin. Pro-Chess-Ta; Guest of Honour Sri Somdutt Behura, Chairman, KT Global School; Sri Satya Ranjan Patnaik, President, All Odisha Chess Association; and Er. Debabrata Bhatta, Secretary, All Odisha Chess Association.

The championships offer a total prize fund of ₹5,00,000/- (₹2,50,000/- for each category) for top 20 players.

The guests collectively lit the ceremonial lamp.

Total 345 participants from (217 in Boys & 128 in Girls) from 27 states including 34 (24 Boys, 10 Girls) of Odisha are participating in both the Championships. Total rated players 25 in Open & 6 in Girls category. 

At the day’s end (after 2nd round) only 47 players in the Open & 25 players in Girls are leading with 2 points.
