Odisha’s Young Chess Talents Shine at the 39th National Under-11 Open & Girls Chess Championships 2026

A proud campaign marked by a runner-up finish, strong performances, and valuable national-level experience

The 39th National Under-11 Open & Girls Chess Championships 2026 brought together some of India’s brightest young chess players, and Odisha’s contingent made its presence felt across both the Open and Girls categories. Based on the final ranking details, Odisha players delivered a mix of podium-level excellence, steady scoring, and important competitive exposure at the national stage.

Odisha’s standout result in the Open category

The biggest highlight for Odisha came in the Open section, where CM Sattwik Swain produced an outstanding performance to finish 2nd with 9½ points. His result placed him among the very best players of the championship and gave Odisha a memorable national-level achievement in the Under-11 age group.

Several other Odisha players also put up determined performances in the Open category. Satya Swarup Tripathy and Sayansh Das scored 7 points each, finishing 60th and 69th respectively. Hrudesh Panigrahi followed with 6½ points and a final rank of 111, while Sanal Vaibhav scored 6 points to finish 143rd. Siddhartha Mallick, Raghav Biswal, and Adyansh Das each scored 5½ points, showing Odisha’s depth in the field.

Girls category: fighting performances

In the Girls section, Preetika Pradhan and Arnica Dash were Odisha’s top performers, both scoring 6½ points. Preetika Pradhan finished 45th, while Arnica Dash secured 58th place. Their results reflected a strong and consistent showing in a competitive national field.

Anisha Acharya also delivered a solid campaign, finishing 90th with 6 points. Anvitha Riya Dash gained valuable national exposure and finished 162nd with 4½ points, adding to Odisha’s participation in the Girls championship.

The state also saw multiple players cross the 6-point mark across both sections, demonstrating steady progress in junior chess.
