Inaugural Function

The Odisha State (Under 7) Open & Girls Chess Championships 2025, hosted by the Master Chess Foundation, Under the aegis of All Odisha Chess Association and supported by Department of Sports & Youth Services commenced with great excitement at Skywalk 3, Conference Hall, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. This championship serves as a platform to nurture the emerging talents of young chess players under the age of 7. The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from all members of Master Chess Foundation and commenced at 10:10 A.M., marking the beginning of what promises to be an engaging showcase of strategic thinking and sportsmanship among the kids.

As this event spans for three days, comprising state selection matches, with 8 rounds (60 mins. with a 30-second increment from move no.1). Master Chess Foundation expressed its excitement for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to witness the beginning of the Odisha State (Under 7) Open & Girls Chess Championships 2025.” Chess enthusiasts and supporters are cordially invited to witness the exciting matches and the impressive displays of talent that these young participants are poised to deliver.

The Open category with 45 participants and the Girls category with 21 participants, totalling 66 participants from 9 Districts. The championship boasts a total prize fund of ₹20,000/- and 32 trophies.

 After the completion of the third round in the Open category, Six players have emerged as leaders, (Abneet Sahoo, Cuttack; Pragyan Mishra, Khordha; Kavyansh Chakraborty, Khordha; Sriansh Sahoo, Cuttack; Rachit Senapati, Khordha & Riyansh Agarwal, Sundargarh) boasting a perfect 2 out 3 points. In the Girls category, Pratyakhyaa Shambhavi, Anannya Annwesha Mishra & Samyra Swain of Khordha have taken the lead with flawless 3 out of 3 points.

The 2nd day, 4th round was inaugurated by Veteran player-cum chess coach Sri Swayangsu Sathyakam, and the 6th round was inaugurated by Sri Amar Mohanty, Secretary of the Kendujhar District Chess Association.

After the completion of the 6th round, two players emerged as leaders: Riyansh Agarwal from Sundargarh and Pragyan Mishra from Khordha, both with 5.5 points out of 6. Another three players are in second place with 5 points: Shivanjit Sasmal, Kavyansh Chakraborty from Khordha, and Krishit Panda from Cuttack.

In the Girls category Anannya Annwesha Mishra is so leader with 6 points out of 6. Pratyakhaa Shambhavi, Khordha is the 2nd leader with 5 points and Arnavi Panda of Cuttack is the 3rd leader with 4.5.

In the Girls category, Anannya Annwesha Mishra of Khordha is the leader with 6 points out of 6. Pratyakhaa Shambhavi from Khordha is in second place with 5 points, and Arnavi Panda from Cuttack is in third place with 4.5 points.

Valedictory-cum-Prize Distribution Ceremony

The three-day chess tournament for Under 7 Boys & Girls was a thrilling experience for the participants, showcasing their honesty and patience at the grass-root level. The event concluded with a memorable Valedictory Ceremony and Prize Distribution at 5:00 P.M. on May 19, 2025, at Skywalk 3, Conference Hall, Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. A total of 66 participants (45 in the Open category & 21 in the Girls category) from 9 districts took part in the event.
